Hi Macca - how did you go with your surgery?
My sister has a large low grade tumour in her left frontal lobe, right near her speech area. Unfortunately it also spreads down to her thalamus and midbrain. It was deemed inoperable by 3 neurosurgeons, until we met with Charlie Teo (Syd, Australia) and he has booked her in for surgery for the 7th of July.
Will be interested to see how your recovering? Hope all is well.

Hi Macca, Sorry for my delay in response. I hope your surgery went well and you're having a nice relaxing recovery. Don't worry if you're super tired for a while - I remember sleeping about 18 hours a day for a few weeks and it took me a year to get back to a full time work schedule. I also remember wanting to take a walk with my mother and ending up turning around after half a block because I was just so wiped out. Just take each day one at a time and know that things will slowly get better. It's great to have family around and it sounds like yours is fantastic. Best wishes for a great recovery! - Kimberly

Hi Mecca wanted to wish you all the best with the surgery on monday!

I have a low gr. glioma as well, in my right thalamus. My initial symptoms were visual disturbances and morning headaches. What were yours? I should have a biopsy done within a couple of months. Thanks for your blog it actually eases my idea of surgery. Did you watch and wait for a few years before surgery? Look forward to sharing our experiences.

Good luck,

Hello! Welcome to the site, sorry you have to be here. I read your blog. I felt just like you before my 2nd surgery. I was numb to it all, but it I do not think it was denial. My whole pre-surgery ordeal took months, so I think I was just ready to have it done with. To prepare for surgery I made a "brain tumor playlist" on my ipod. I put calming and motivating music on it. Good luck with your surgery, I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hi Macca!
Is that a picture of you or of a young Paul McCartney! :)

I didn't notice what type of tumor you had(not that it matters to me), but was wondering how , if at all, it has affected you seeing as it was situated on/near temporal lobe(mine was too-on right side).

How's Ireland this time of year? Lucky Guy....I hear its beautiful there.

Hello Macca and thanks for joining. I started this site a year ago because I had such difficulty finding benign brain tumor survivors, like myself. I'm a long term survivor ( but have many side-effects): diagnosed in 1985 at age 11. Besides connecting with survivors, we can exchange medical info, get support, etc. Please message me with any questions or comments. Thanks again for joining.
