- Somedays I am better than others. The tumors have really impacted my life as they occurred when I was 21, 26, and 40. I have not been able to work full-time and feel guilty for being "not well" a lot with depression, headaches, low energy and the like.

I can't believe it's July! How the time flies when you have acquired brain injury!
It has taken all this time for me to blog again. I guess I don't have to worry about becoming addicted to it! Although I have not blogged for almost three months, I have been lurking on "It's Just Behign" putting my two-cents-worth in every now and again, and slowly getting to know a few members. It is amazing to me how similar our stories are, and how COMFORTING it is to realize that I am not alone in my struggles and efforts to deal with the life implications of brain surgery. It has been…

My First Blog Posting on It's Just Benign
I can't believe that I have found a support group for people who have experienced benign brain tumours! Over the past 31 years I have had three benign tumors removed surgically, and in all that time I have not had the opportunty to share my experiences with anyone else who has also been through anything like that. I saw your July 21, 2010 comment to Angela Zwiers (you posted it on her page) – you talked about the term “survivor” as in brain tumor survivor and what it means to you – your comments really touched me and I can very much relate to what you said. I recently thanked God for my meningioma because of the changes in me that have resulted and which would not have otherwise. It has really changed my perspective on many aspects of my life and on how I relate to others. And it (the whole journey it started me upon) has had a positive impact on my growth as a Christ-follower.
I also think your comments about being a survivor are very true. I think there is so much more to this BT business than just surviving – there are opportunities to stretch & grow ourselves in new ways. While “BT survivor” to describe ourselves is an apt way to bring attention to the medical issue of brain tumors & the need for more research into alternative treatments, etc. – we shouldn’t lose our focus on moving forward, nor use “BT survivor” as a crutch for what we do not accomplish.

- Hi Rose, you asked how I am feeling. Well first I have not been able to loose the steroids. Two times trying to be weened off and both times got very ill. The first time landed me back in the hospital. This time, just yesterday I was told to stay on the steroids for longer. Why am I having such a hard time getting rid of these things. I am so lethargic and headachy at times. I don't know if this is normal... what is? THanks for listening. Lisa

- Hi Rose, i just read your original post and I want you to know I am so grateful to hear your honesty and grace at the same time. This is one of the hardest things I have faced in my 48 years on earth. I am only one month into post surgery and to be perfectly honest I am very scared at how I actually feel. I don't know what is normal and what is not..... I don't know anyone that has had brain surgery. This is nuts....... write me anytime. Lisa

- Hello Rose and thanks for joining. I started this site because I had such difficulty finding benign brain tumor survivors, like myself. I'm a long term survivor ( but have many side-effects): diagnosed in 1985 at age 11. Besides connecting with survivors, we can exchange medical info, get support, etc. Please message me with any questions or comments. Thanks again for joining.
P.S. I read your reply about grieving. I understand everything that you're expressing. From the education, career, children, etc. It will be great to connect further. I am trying to educate everyone about benign brain tumors and you are the first person who expressed everything that I have expressed or thought. Welcome!
