driving affected/lack of family support

Another way my tumor has affected my life is by my distance driving. I've been driving since I was 17, when I received my driver's license. I can drive locally and have driven several states away. However, I would never try driving in NYC or where there are high traffic areas. I take routine medication and I know my body well. I can get tired easily and would never want to be so far away that I felt trapped in between states. Plus, I want to be safe for myself and for other drivers. So I'm… Continue

how much my tumor affected my career

Having a job that was meaningful and fulfilling wasn't always such a priority. It was always on my mind but, it wasn't as frustrating as it is now. I always assumed that I'd go to an Ivy League University and have a good career, just like my parents. Even in high school, after my tumor was treated and my trigeminal neuralgia pain started, I still wasn't thinking realistically. I thought that if some University was paid enough money, that I'd be excepted. I was delusional because I was so sick… Continue

upsetting day at work because of one side effect

I've been at my job about 1 1/2 years and I'm lucky to have a job. They have been very flexible and accommodated my hours, and I love the people. A big problem is that they don't understand the limited use of my left hand/fingers. My hand isn't numb but, it isn't as sensitive as my right hand. Plus, I has no fine motor skills, meaning that it can shake uncontrollably. Next step

My father was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour on 14 November 2008. The poor man has since suffered a heart attack the first week in January 2009, so three months had passed since the first appointment and he had not recieved the follow-up date with his Neurosurgeon. He thought well if they aren't rushing me in then it cant be that bad but I felt differently. Secretly I emailed the clinic and they said they would check out the referral as he had been discharged! Alarms bells rang and I… Continue

Long Story short.....

Last year about this time I started having problems remembering little things. No big deal I had just turned 38 getting older it happens right. By June I was tripping alot and walking straight into things with my right arm, again not a major alarm I am the owner of a ton of past strains, sprains and bumps. The first week of August in about 3 days everything fell apart. On a Friday at work I transposed a number in a daycode and verified it as incorrect as it was as correct.....even going so far… Continue
