Question

Hi everyone - I have a question for the group. I have a friend who is 5 who has a benign tumor and I am noticing that most of the folks on this site are adults. I would love to know at what age were you diagnosed with a brain tumor? and how many years ago was that? THANKS!

There's never a good time to have brain surgery!

My sister and I were talking the other day about my upcoming surgery this fall and I said that I had wanted to wait so that I could have fun this summer with my kids. I had asked my surgeon and he said that with a couple of MRI's to keep a watch on the tumour, I should be fine to wait.

We have plans this summer, day trips to their favourite parks, barbeques with friends,Daddy's Birthday, sleep away camp, family picnic with the aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents and a 2 week… Continue

Suriving is just the start

I decided that after hiding this from so many people and after nearly going into a heart attack over the last few months that I had to hare my story.

I used to fear telling others about my brain tumor because of how poorly life treated me after the surgery, I decided if I stayed quiet, it would go away but I realized I can't do that.

I want to help hare my story as a survivor and hope that I can help others be a survivor too.

The love Intervention- my sister wrote this after they surprised me with an amazing visit. My siblings are and have always been a source of constant love and support!!

It is no secret now, and most people close to us now know that my sister Krystal is facing a health challenge with a brain tumour found months ago... the latest change is that she has been given the all good for brain surgery... and will have it removed in the fall. Long recovery will follow but with her strength and awe inspiring attitude she will get through!!

Health scares of any dimension halt us... they remind us that we are human... that we are not all powerful beings... but capable… Continue

"At least it's not malignant"

I got so tired of hearing that from friends and co-workers when my meningiomas were first diagnosed in '98. I recently heard that some breast cancer drugs are working on other cancers and I was researching for that info when I stumbled on this site. I think it might be nice to talk with others in similar situations.

It looks like most of the members at this site have just been diagnosed/treated - there is hope for long term survival! Since diagnosed I have had gamma knife, been… Continue
